Ancient Egypt is one of the most insteresting times in history. The Egyptians have invented so many things that we now take for granted. Some of the things they did and believed in were also very different to ours. Read more to find out more of these and interesting facts as well.

One of the Ancient Egyptian inventions was clocks. This type is called a sundial. It is about the size of a music stand, and has a large slanted pole. This pole's shadow would generate a shadow, like the minute hand on our everyday clocks. The sun moves around the earth so the shadow moves to. It pointed to a symbol, and that is actually a number, which shows what time it is.

Here is another type of clock, the water clock. It was a bit smaller than the sundial and has lots of plus sides as well. It works by water dripping down from a jug with a hole in the middle into another jug without the hole but with some marking on the outside. These have numbers and depending on how much water has dripped it will corispond to a number, representing the time.

The old Egyptian clocks all only worked in hours, no minutes or seconds!
